Y'all gonna hate me and my new idea FO SHO.
It all came to me when I just realized that it’s actually Earth Hour when I turned on the TV (ironic, isn’t it?) and saw that many cities went dark for an hour by choice to commemorate the coming Earth Day.
(I was actually in Emporium for the MIDNIGHT SALE: buying more “stuff”, using up the aircon and those evil paper (and yes, also plastic) bags, PLUS enjoying the bands on stage – basically being very environmentally UN-friendly). Even Google went black.

All the nonsense hype isn’t lost to me:
1). I actually had to turn on CNN to find out about the event.
2). In some cities, there were huuuuge electronic boards counting down 3, 2, 1 to Earth Hour.
3). How does a black Google page help the Earth? You can say that Google was supporting Earth Hour “in spirit” and trying to “raise awareness blah blah”…. But the only time someone was gonna see that Google had gone black was when that someone was on the internet – using electricity through the computer and giving off more heat. HAH~!!
So, in the spirit of more environmental nonsense, I am therefore suggesting that this year’s Songkran should be a DRY one (GASP~!! The horror~!!).
Before you sic Greenpeace (or the Tourism Authority of Thailand) on me, lemme explain:
During the 3-da
y Songkran event, the WHOLE COUNTRY of Thailand is gonna waste water like crazy in the spirit of “culture”. And not just the locals; millions of tourists are already (as we speak) flocking to the Kingdom for the sole purpose of wasting this precious natural resource. Oh and waitaminit… Thailand’s neighbors will ALSO celebrate Songkran by splashing H2O like mad~!!
Anybody heard of the “water crisis”? Here, you can read it at Wikipedia:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Water_crisis
It’s not an exaggeration when it’s said that future wars will be fought over water.
I am now proclaiming myself as the first sour-grapes volunteer:
Dear Mother Nature,
I swear to thee… I will NOT splash water during Songkran~!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

(OK, OK… so I DID go to Chiang Mai MANY TIMES during previous Songkrans and wasted water like there was no tomorrow… but that’s all in THE PAST`~!! I have been reformed~!!).
From now on, I will only use water for daily necessities, like:
- Taking showers (NOT baths~!!)
- Getting my hair treatments in unpopular salons (less customers means less water wasted, riiiight~??).
- Boiling mama noodles .
save water; drink alcohol~!!
