for everyone

THE CURIOSITY IS KILLING MEEEEEEEEEH~~!!!!!!!!!

Just... What... Are... These... Guys... Doing~??

They opened a manhole in a parking lot inside a building in Thonglo (Sukhumvit 55).

And then they dumped a whole bunch of black thingies into the manhole.

The black thingies were piled up a few steps away from the manhole.

The workers scooped up the black thingies into a bucket, brought the bucket to the opened manhole and dumped the thingies into the manhole

Then they returned to the pile, scooped up more black thingies and dumped them into the manhole again.

Here's a brighter shot of the black thingies
(I used flash coz it was at night):

WHAT THE HELL ARE THOSE BLACK THINGIES~??

AND WHY WERE THEY BEING DUMPED INTO THE MANHOLE~??

Two good questions.

They are obviously "Man made" but what the heck they could be used for is at the moment beyond me. Secondly I have no idea why they should be dumped in a manhole.

LOL or better, 55555

I actually touched them, and they felt HARD, more metal-like than rubber-like.

The mystery goes on..........

Oh I did, but I didn't understand what they said, la. I asked them "What's this/that?" and they said something like "Luuk pan" or something like that (*scratches head*)

Hey, where's your journalist's instinct? Why didn't ask for more details? I can't think of anything sounds like luuk pan in Thai.

Noooooooooooooooooooo!!!!!!! I guess this will remain as another Sukhumvit mystery haha!!!!

How about asking the Governor? Just post this blog's link on his Facebook site - or other related sites that have links on his Facebook. Someone will surely answer!

I found this: MANHOLE ODOR ELIMINATOR http://www.wdfilters.com/moe.html
But it looked different from those in your pictures. Similar in principle? Hmmmm....

Still around????
I could not see any on Sukhumvit road or any other roads around my area!
None in any newspaper articles, either. Am I missing anything?!

I guess the BMA thinks this issue isn't important enough... boo hoo hoo... They have their hands full with the (inept) bombers, angry Chatuchak vendors and (I hope!!) flood prevention measures heeeeeee....
