Let us distract ourselves from the recent bomb attacks on Sukhumvit Road with a
very intellectual exhibition in TCDC (Thailand Cultural and Design Center) on the 6th floor of my beloved Emporium (in where else~ Sukhumvit 24).
Titled "Everything Forever Now: Designs For A Sustainable Future", the exhibition showcases several green designs by environmentally-minded designers.
Did you guys know that most of today's designers purposely design their products to break down? This is to encourage buyers to keep buying.
What's more, designers and advertisers keep pushing the idea that "newer is better" so even though what you own still works perfectly fine, they pressure you to buy a newer model so you can feel "trendy".
Of course, all of this translates to more resources consumed, more greenhouse gases dumped into the atmosphere, more CO2 burned, more wastes generated, etc.
What if... JUST WHAT IF... Designers design things that are actually durable and meant to last~??
I decided to take the exhibit's pics with the "sepia" mode of my camera - to highlight the "FOREVERNESS" of the whole idea~~ TEE-HEE~~!!
