I am still in the dark about what makes MK Gold so "golden" that it feels it's more "deserving" of my dough.
Oh sure, its exterior in Ekamai (Sukhumvit 63) is pretty impressive.

Smiling staff greet you gracefully with a 'wai' as soon as you step in (sure makes you feel like VIP~!!).

And look... the place has glittering crystal chandeliers~!!

And gigantic golden artsy "stuff" strewn all around~!!
Nevertheless, even though my eyes were pretty happy, my taste buds weren't feelin' so hot. I swear, the offerings were the same with the "typical" MK (just minus the ear-splitting noise) and MK Trend
i (just minus the dancing).
Perhaps my tongue has developed way too-thick calluses due to the usual scorching Thai street food... that's why I couldn't taste any difference~!!
So if you take out the fancy utensils, crisp uniforms and soft lighting... it's basically what the Thais like to say - "same same"~!!

And considering how hi-so MK Gold is supposed to be, how come they didn't invest in machines that would suck steamy smoke AWAY from your hi-so hair and makeup~?!?! (*grumble*)
Now, everybody knows that a "steam treatment" does wonders for one's complexion, but just NOT while you're not IN a spa~!!
Can you imagine spending a week's salary on hair and makeup to look exceptionally fabulous for one special night, only to emerge a dripping, soaking mess after dinner~?! Not a pretty sight.
(Besides, it's not as if the weather outside still needs more help in the humidity department~!!).Truth be told, the only "gold" in MK Gold (beside the artsy "stuff") can be found merely in its table mat and "plates tree".

(Oh, and the hot pot mentioned above).
