for everyone
Category:Restaurants
Cuisine: Other
Location:Ekamai (Sukhumvit 63)
I am still in the dark about what makes MK Gold so "golden" that it feels it's more "deserving" of my dough.

Oh sure, its exterior in Ekamai (Sukhumvit 63) is pretty impressive.

Smiling staff greet you gracefully with a 'wai' as soon as you step in (sure makes you feel like VIP~!!).

And look... the place has glittering crystal chandeliers~!!

And gigantic golden artsy "stuff" strewn all around~!!

Nevertheless, even though my eyes were pretty happy, my taste buds weren't feelin' so hot. I swear, the offerings were the same with the "typical" MK (just minus the ear-splitting noise) and MK Trendi (just minus the dancing).

Perhaps my tongue has developed way too-thick calluses due to the usual scorching Thai street food... that's why I couldn't taste any difference~!!

So if you take out the fancy utensils, crisp uniforms and soft lighting...  it's basically what the Thais like to say - "same same"~!!

And considering how hi-so MK Gold is supposed
to be, how come they didn't invest in machines that would suck steamy smoke AWAY from your hi-so hair and makeup~?!?! (*grumble*)

Now, everybody knows that a "steam treatment" does wonders for one's complexion, but just NOT while you're not IN a spa~!!

Can you imagine spending a week's salary on hair and makeup to look exceptionally fabulous for one special night, only to emerge a dripping, soaking mess after dinner~?!
Not a pretty sight.

(Besides, it's not as if the weather outside still needs more help in the humidity department~!!).

Truth be told, the only "gold" in MK Gold (beside the artsy "stuff") can be found merely in its table mat and "plates tree".

(Oh, and the hot pot mentioned above).

Top Blogs more copper than gold; BAH~!!

LOL!.. I thought you were going to talk about some type of real gold!
Yeah, sounds like a lot of fancy restaurants I know too... same food you'd find elsewhere plus all the glitz and then hike up the prices.
oooooh... who was the special date with?????

Dude, that's MK Trendi you're talking about~!! The staff does this semi-aerobic dance every hour, right~?? That's not MK Gold... MK Gold is tooo 'hi-so' for such a silly dance, I guess...

I heard a theory that MK Trendi makes their waiters/waitresses dance with such a noisy music to WAKE UP the customers, coz you get rather sleepy after a while... with all the smoke and steam BWA HA HAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA~~~

Anyway, I'd take MK Trendi over MK Gold anyday~!!

*giggle* Nah... it wasn't a date... more like a networking party. See, me and my friends have this networking party every 2 months. I bring my people and everybody else can bring THEIR people so we all can meet each other, exchange name cards, and who knows... maybe do some business together in the future~?? Heh heh... You're welcome to join when you're in Bangkok~!!

Don't tell me that they give fortune cookies after dinner! That could make MK Gold gold. Wait..do they even have those silly fortune cookies like we do in the US?

Nah... no fortune cookies from MK... I think those come out only during Chinese New Year.

Level up from "gold" is usually "platinum"... and then it's "black"... don't ask me WHY hahahaaaaa...

BWAHAHAHAAAA~~ I guess that's why you pay more... Prettier "decor" = more pleasure, therefore higher price~!! But how come the waiters look very 'cheui-cheui' (so-so), la~?! This is sexual discrimination GRRRRR...

This MK Gold is JUST fancy, nothing more. MK Trendi, on the other hand, actually trains its waiters and waitresses to dance and entertain customers:
