Betcha didn't know there's actually a *- NORTH -* Korean restaurant in Bangkok~!!
This unique eatery (named "Pyongyang", of aaaaall the names in the world~!!) is actually not in Sukhumvit (I am scandalized by this - I demand a North Korean restaurant on my beloved road A.S.A.P~!!!), but this is just tooooo good to pass up. For those who are curious, it's actually in Pattanakarn 20.
The whole place is HUGE and glittery.

(So erase any thoughts you have of starving babies).
And guess what~?! It turns out that the place has a dancing and singing show EVERY SINGLE NIGHT (oh my~!!). Done by extremely beautiful, slim, translucent-and-fair-skinned, charming young ladies~!! *droooool*
They can croon in Korean, Japanese, Chinese and English~!!

They can glide gracefully while wearing very inconvenient (but cute) shoes~!!

They can even play musical instruments which I don't know how to name~!!
(And did I mention how PRETTY they are~~~~?!?!)

Click to see for yourself~!! Actually, I found the whole place (and its mood) to be quite nostalgic...
They've got this super cheesy stage with corny fake flowers and glittering lights...

Plus old-fashioned Korean paintings...
It kinda gives you vibes from a bygone era~!!
[Probably when Kim Jong-Il was still busy doing his "how-to-use-your-puffy-hair-to-hide-WMD (weapons of mass destruction)" training].
It' soooooo cheesy... but cute and charming at the same time~!!
And the ladies are sooooooo... nice to look at~!!

Watch another eye-pleasing performance ~!! OK, enough about them ladies... and what about the food~???
Well, they've got the usual barbecue thingy... which is pretty much the same as countless other (South) Korean restaurants spread out all over Bangkok (though I would still recommend the karubi, pictured right; which arrived still attached to the bone~!! YUM~!!!).
BUT when you're in Pyongyang (ooooh~ I just love the sound of that~!!), you really should try out the authentic NORTH Korean dishes, like this one:
Called samgaetang, this is chicken soup with herbs, with rice INSIDE the chicken. It tasted a bit bitter... kinda like those Chinese herbal soups which are s'posed to be "healthy" but don't give you pleasure to eat (hahahahaa...).
Or this khao tom (rice porridge) - like dish:
This one I liiiike~!! (Tasted like the semi-liquid version of bibimbap)~!! And they had such a glorious, mouth-burning' (and did I mention RED) set of various kimchi~!! *sniffles and wipes tear from eye*
The bill came to just about 2,000 baht - which was actually sooooo... decent~!! *surprise surprise*
I mean, considering that there were one, two and THREE of us... and we ordered sooo... much stuff as if we were really being shipped to North Korea the next day~!! The performers, who also doubled as very patient waitresses, also could speak a little English~!! (with a bit of Korean accent, of coz).
What's more, believe it or not... the show was FREE~~~~!!!!!!!! (I mean, we only paid for the food, y'know~?? So we left a 200-baht tip instead~!!)

And after the show, you're welcome to take over the karaoke machine~!!
Watch the VDO clip of this (non-pretty) crooner ~!! All hail the Dear Leader~~!!!!!streetsmartsukhumvit@gmail.com sukhumvit bangkok thailand
