VideoThe reason why I SUCK in cookingApr 25, '08 5:18 PM
for everyone
Living smack-dab in the heart of Sukhumvit has got me spoiled rotten.

Why should I slave away in the hot kitchen when I can get cheap and yummy food like THIS in mere MINUTES made by someone else~?!

This particular gourmet expert can be found in Robinson Sukhumvit (next to Sukhumvit 19), and your tummy will be happy and satisfied for just 40 baht~!!

Heh heh, good one, John... In fact, I actually LOVE washing dishes~!! It appeals to my Virgo side - see, I don't like to cook coz it's hot and it creates SUCH a mess. On the other hand, washing gives me pleasure coz I see how the mess gets aaaaall clean~!! Hee hee hee...

So waddayasay you do the COOKING part and I do the EATING part~??
meefsgirl wrote on Apr 25
Hey SSS, I'm a virgo like you and I thoroughly relate. I really dislike cooking, not so much for the cooking part itself, but the mess it makes. I'd rather wash dishes any day. Another thing I don't like about cooking is that it takes sooo long to make a yummy dish.. and it's gone in two seconds flat! With nothing to show for it... ya know, I like to sit back and survey the work I've done, but I can't when it's nowhere in sight!!

I just wonder what 40 baht would be in Aussie money or US.

I totally agree with all everything you said~!!! It IS truly tragic...

Maybe you should take a pic of the wonderful dishes you create before anyone can gobble 'em~?? This way, you'll at least have a "portfolio" of your hard work~!! Heeeeee...

Well, according to today's exchange rate, 40 baht is 1.35377 AUD or 1.26831 USD (I use www.xe.com)

I miss Bangkok! I love to cook and we are addicted to Thai fried rice. So when we ate at one of the hawker stall in sukhumvit, my bf told me to watch how they do it and what's the secret seasoning they use. After we ate, off to Foodland we go.hahaha!! I bought and brought the Soy sauce and seasoning sauce here in Manila. My friends loved my version of Thai fried rice =)

the only problem is that we don't have the same lime you use there, but hey I got the Thai fish sauce as well and mix it with chilis!hahahah!

WOOOOOOOOOOOOW~~!!! So you're a great cook~!! I am always in awe of people who cook (since I suck badly in it).

I know the Filipino lime you mentioned~!! You guys call it "kalamansi" or something like that, right~?? It's very nice to drink, too~!!

I BET~!! I won't even try to do it... since my previous attempts completely BOMBED and nobody even wanted to try my cooking~!! Before, I tried making Japanese curry (looked soooo EASY when someone else did it, so I thought, "Piece of cake, I can do that, too~!!).
But when I finished and presented it to my family, my mom was like, "WHAT is it~~???" I was like, "It's Japanese curry, D-UH~!!" And then my sis was like, "It looks kinda weirddd..."
*siiiiiiiiiiiiiigh~*

Some apartment rooms here don't even have kitchens/don't allow cooking inside, so the proliferation of cheap tasty food makes everybody's life more convenient ; )

Yes, I know what you mean, a typical big city problem. I once had a flat for a month, I could cook providing that I did not use any spices, the owner disliked the "Foriegn" odors !!!
